Even though I don’t use FL Studio much these days, there will always be a place in my heart and on my PC for it. FL was the first DAW to get me making music, and my first software purchase. Lifetime free updates keeps me a very happy customer.
The FL Studio Guru blog has posted a top 10 new features in FL Studio 9.1 video. Loads of cool stuff in this update.
Here’s some of my favorite new features in FL Studio 8, in no particular order.
recording filter (right-click record button). Choose to record Audio, Automation or Note data independently.
Never lose a keyboard performance. The new score logger records all MIDI activity from controller keyboards and the ‘typing-piano keyboard’ in a 3 minute buffer.
FL Studio can permanently learn and remember links to external controllers. The new ‘multilink’ function + ‘Override generic links’ option.
24 bit int rendering (it could do 16 and 32 only previously)
Soundgoodizer: a stereo ‘maximizer-enhancer’ plugin based on the Maximus soundprocess engine.
audio to MIDI analysis – good for drum replacing
Mouse wheel can re-order effects. Hover over effect to be moved and roll!
New Plugin database directory, functions with Plugin picker. Thumbnails of all your plugins, just click and drag. See below.
At Revolution Audio this Thursday Kate will be teaching a Cubase 101 class, only $29. As an added bonus, I’ll be there, I’m awesome as you know. :)
I’m building another 6 acoustic panels in the coming week, I’ll be sure to actually take pictures of the process this time! Stay tuned for a full article on that stuff.
In the comments from my last post Jerry gave a link to some SM-57 and SM-58 clones that are supposed to be even better than the original and only $30 each! You can get a pack of 10 for $199, absolutely ridiculous. You know I’m buying some of course. Speakerrepair.com
